We played hooky with half a conference day and hiked up the tallest point in Athens. There is a cable car that goes up it, but being such intrepid travelers - we walked! (Actually we couldn't find the cable car entrance ;-) The views of the Acropolis and the sea beyond were lovely - well worth the effort. As with most tall places in Greece, there is a church at the top.
